WILDFIRE RISK MITIGATION PROJECT
Powder River Energy Corporation has been actively reducing the potential for wildfires from distribution power lines in northeastern Wyoming by rethinking their protection strategy. The entire system will be reviewed according to preset criteria in a rotating 12-year cycle. Every point on the primary system is to be analyzed and reviewed at the next cycle. Joy Engineering has been engaged to conduct this study to determine where fuses, reclosers, sectionalizers, and switches are to be placed, and the curves/sizes for each.
WINDMIL MODEL MAINTENANCE
A utility with over 20,000 meters uses the Milsoft WindMil modeling software to perform system studies, fault current analysis, and long-range planning. Maintaining this model is crucial for engineering planning and system performance. We update this model with the most recent system peak and allocate loads according to field verified data. We are training their engineers to perform this work so as to be proficient with the model update internally.
NISC DEW MODEL INTEGRATION
An electric cooperative is in the process of utilizing the NISC DEW model for engineering analysis to integrate with their other suite of NISC software. Joy Engineering is tasked with ensuring this model will import and perform clean and accurately.
