OUR SERVICES

It's not what we do,

it's how we do it

01.

System Planning

As loads grow, infrastructure ages, loads diversify, and other system dynamics evolve, keeping the system in good working order is essential. We offer a range of system planning services including voltage and capacity studies, load forecasting, contingency analysis, system protection, load flow studies, equipment settings, and other planning services.

02.

Large Load Analysis and Implementation

More and more, cooperatives are seeing large loads (5 MW or more) and even large motors (over 300 hp) introduced to their systems that were designed for rural homes and businesses. These pose challenges to the system as well as the existing members. With expertise in open pit coal mines, oil and gas wells and pipelines, and other large loads, we have the knowledge to help with these challenges.

03.

Construction Work Plans

Long Range Plans

As RUS (Rural Utility Service) borrowers, many cooperatives know the need to submit Construction Work Plans for these loans.

Long-term planning is crucial as a road map for the future of electric systems. These plans keep the Board, Executive Staff, Engineering, Operations, and other staff "on the same page."

We know planning and are ready to help.

04.

System Modeling

A central aspect of maintaining an electrical grid is modeling the system. With an accurate, well-maintained model, the utility can make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary rebuilds or upgrades. We have proficiency in the Milsoft WindMil and the NISC DEW modeling software suites, and are equipped to maintain or build new models.

05.

Renewables Analysis

Renewables (photovoltaic, wind, small hydro, etc.) are no longer an upcoming novelty, they are part of the energy grid. The performance and behavior of these is unique, and can have a significant impact on the system. We have the skills to conduct studies and analysis of the effect these have to your system.

06.

GIS Services (coming soon)

Accurately mapping the system is needed to know what is in the field and foundational for an accurate system model.

Joy Engineering is planning to be trained in the NISC MapWise software in the spring of 2026. Stay tuned!

07.

Other Services Planned...

In our quest to provide cooperatives with the tools they need to thrive, we strive to gain those tools. Other areas we are working toward is NERC/FERC regulatory compliance assistance, renewable design (utility and member scale), and power line design. If you need any of these services, or even others not listed, please contact us to see how we can implement these or help with your need.
